What Tosin Did – Weekly #7

Hello Folks!

This week, I officially joined the flock of Lagosians that make that daily mainland to Island commute, and it has not been fun, not in any way.

Consequently, I’ve been resigned to working with less than 5 hours of sleep. I know it sounds like I am whining (which I am), but this is coming from the back of getting a solid average of 7 hrs of sleep for the past year. And it’s not just the sleep time reduction, there’s also the time I spend on the road, and the struggle of driving in this odious city.

Anybody who knows me, knows how much I hate being in traffic. I absolutely despise it, so much so that I have been waking up at 4.45am each day, ensuring I leave home by 5.45am at the latest. I’ve done a decent job sticking to this timeline and the reward for this is me getting to my destination before 7am, even though resumption isn’t until 9am.

I’d much rather have 2 extra hours doing other stuff I choose rather than spend it driving in plodding traffic.

On interesting reads during the week, this article titled “Go Ahead and Quit” was a good one. Although it makes a point on being able to live a worthwhile life as regards a career, the ideology was a bit too simplistic and people often times need to consider a lot more before making that decision to quit a job.

I recently saw the new Suicide Squad movie, and it was a delight. It’s one of those movies that I wouldn’t mind watching again soon. The last movie that I can recall that made me feel this way was the 2019 Joker film.

The Harley Quinn scene where she tried escaping her captors was the highlight of the movie for me. The action, comedy, dialogue, and many other elements of the movie came together pretty nicely.

Football season is back, and so is the disappointment that comes with supporting Arsenal. I didn’t bother watching their opening game of the season, and for good reason, as they ended up losing (Not surprising).

Today, I got to see my niece and my elder sister. They came over and it felt good having them around albeit a short visit.

I also got around to watching the final episode of Modern Family, after purposefully postponing it for such a long time, it was such a worthwhile watch. The rest of today will see me catch up on other shows as well and prep for the upcoming week.

See you soon.

Bye, Au revoir, Adios!
